Auto Insurance Nightmare

Wow. It turns out that by changing from a 13 year old sports car with 400+ horsepower down to a 4 door 4 cylinder that is just over 150 horsepower but brand new, makes your insurance double. So when you get a quote in your hotrod and they say “well yeah it’s high because your car is a sports car, it’s always higher in a sports car” Is in fact completely and entirely untrue. If you get an insurance agent at any insurance company that says that to you, call that person a liar and thank them for  allowing you to be the person who rejects them the nicest an most correctly while they tried yet failed to pad their  commission at your expense with no remorse of the damage it does to you, since insurance is actually mandatory, and not just a vanity choice. and if he says he does not  make commission then call him (or her … my bad) a double liar. If they insist, give them a link to career builder.com because they have been getting shorted.

3 years I have been getting insurance through Geico, I have been happy. So I logged into Geico and check the difference; from $89 a month full coverage on a 400+ horse power car, up to $130 a month on a family car that the only time it could do 100 mph is if it was being towed by my previous car. Ok so now I am frustrated. I call Geico and well, I get some dude that sounded like a young Ozzy Osbourne. you drunk British dude. I couldn’t understand squat he said. I had to stop him after he told me that the reason the price was higher was because of the value of the vehicle. I told him that the car I changed from before the sportscar was a  4 cylinder  that was maybe 3 years old, and the reason I was told the insurance was higher on the sportscar was because…. well because it was a sportscar. I apologized and told him I do not dislike him, I said I hated the whole idea of the circle they are talking (lol over a three year conversation) and then I went off again. I told him that i would have to try another company. he of course told me he emailed me a coupon for defensive driving, Yeah I stopped him and started hammering him to look at my driving record and reminded him he was not talking to some child, I have not had a ticket in years. He apologized and continued without a beat and told me that if i paid $60 for this defensive driving I would save $19 over a 6 month period. Yeah I had to ask, “so you will knock $80 off of my total 6 month cost?” ” Well (in audible weird word and slurr) i’m sorry but no we will knock a total of $19 off.

!  ?

Maybe I am just mad and not getting it, but it sounded like he said “hey spend $60 more dollars because you are retarded and can’t do math and would believe me if i told you it would save you money, that way I can send you  20 more dollars in a rebate”

am I right? is he tacking on another $40 for no reason what so ever???  Oh and not to forget the 8 hours of  defensive driving that I will probably fail anyway.. lol!!!

I hung up the phone.  I imagine I looked somewhere like a used  new years eve sparkler.

So I head over to allstate’s website. I mean why not? They keep advertising that they save Geico users an average of  $500 ayear..

Ok after about 10 minutes of clicking around trying to see this savings and it not turning out that way, I hit the  chat button at the top right.

After asking “Sabrina” a few questions and trying to get answers (sorry couldn’t fit all on this page, broke the table in first run) This is how the message ended.

Sabrina: Has there been any changes to your driving record or credit rating?
Sabrina: Do you currently have continous insurance coverage with no lapse?
Ron : other than getting a newer car, no .. but i just now got a quote from gieco, so within the past 20 minutes.. no.
Ron : yes I have had coverage with them just short of 3 years not missing a payment, before that I was covered for 15 years with American insurance.
Sabrina: A higher deductible may make the premium lower.
Ron : Wel that’s not a solution.
Sabrina: It was a just a suggestion.
Sabrina: Even though Allstate is not the cheapest Allstate is the nation’s largest publically held insurance company and has been in business for over 78 years! Ron : Ok I will move on to get other quotes elsewhere

Really? she actually spammed me in the end …. with a fear tactic ” you know you have few choices and better make up your mind quick” looking message… ?

Ok that seemed wrong. Maybe I misunderstood that whole thing.

Progressive gave me slightly better quote than what Geico gave me. Like $3.

How odd that an adult  with a 4 door car pays more for a higher priced car, than an adult male who drives a risky vehicle? and the best solution was “How about you pick a higher deductible” .

Man. I have to give in and submit with everyone else. Slave to the mandatory.
